Internship “Conceptualisation and Support in Demonstration of Digital Product Passports”

The Center for Digital Safety & Security located in Vienna invites applications for an internship. The Competence Unit for Cooperative Digital Technologies is leading in applied research on the development of data-based IT solutions for various application scenarios, including innovative solutions supporting communities in increasing their resilience and achieving sustainable development goals.

The Sustainable & Resilient Society team focuses on IT concepts and systems for enabling data exchange in different domains, especially IT solutions for crisis and disaster management and sustainability management in communities and companies.

Your tasks

• Under the guidance of an interdisciplinary team, you will support the conceptual design of a data space architecture for product passports.
• You will actively contribute to a cutting-edge research and development project in the emerging field of data spaces and Digital Product Passports, DPP.
• You will learn and gain practical experience with modern technologies such as the Semantic Web stack, Gaia-X frameworks, identity and trust management, verifiable credentials and EDC connector technologies.
• You support an international project and get exciting insights into the technological environment.
• You will have the opportunity to discuss your work experiences and results with experienced scientific peers and connect with other bachelor’s, master’s or PhD students.

Your qualifications as an Ingenious Partner

• Ongoing Bachelor’s program or master in Computer Science, Data Science, or a related field.
• Solid foundation in web development, Java, Python, Flask and/or React.
• Basic knowledge in the field of distributed systems.
• Interest in scientific work and application-oriented questions of the industry.
• Interest to work in a multidisciplinary team and collaborate on different topics.
• Very good verbal and written English skills, team language is English, German and other language skills would be a plus.

What to expect

• Duration of the internship: 2 months
• Start date: summer 2026, with some flexibility concerning the start date
• A remuneration of EUR 1.461 gross per month for 38.5 hours per week.
