Wer in Österreich einen Fondssparplan abschließt oder fürs Alter vorsorgt, dessen Geld landet häufig bei einem Haus wie diesem. Erste Asset Management verwaltet die Ersparnisse von Privatkunden ebenso wie das Kapital großer Anleger, etwa von Versicherungen und Pensionskassen. Rund 111 Milliarden Euro sind es insgesamt. Die Entscheidungen darüber treffen etwa hundert Fondsmanager und Analystinnen, die meisten davon in Wien.
Die Gesellschaft gehört zur Erste Group, einer der größten Bankengruppen in Zentral- und Osteuropa, und ist seit 1965 am Markt – damals noch unter dem Namen ERSTE-SPARINVEST. Aus dem österreichischen Sparkassen-Umfeld ist über die Jahrzehnte ein Anbieter mit Büros in sieben Ländern geworden. Neben Wien wird auch in Prag, Bukarest und Zagreb gearbeitet. Der Sitz liegt Am Belvedere, gleich beim Wiener Hauptbahnhof.
Was hier täglich passiert, klingt technisch, betrifft aber viele Menschen. Aus Aktien, Anleihen und anderen Wertpapieren stellen die Teams Fonds zusammen, in die Sparer und Institutionen dann investieren. Ein Schwerpunkt liegt auf nachhaltiger Veranlagung. Über 41 Milliarden Euro stecken in Fonds, die nach ethischen und ökologischen Kriterien anlegen – gerechnet auf den Stand Juni 2026. In diesem Feld zählt das Haus zu den frühen Adressen im deutschsprachigen Raum, den ersten Ethikfonds legte es bereits 2001 auf.
Mehr als 500 Menschen arbeiten für das Unternehmen. Die einen managen Fonds und analysieren Märkte, die anderen betreuen Kundinnen im Vertrieb, entwickeln Produkte oder sorgen für Risiko, Recht und Abwicklung. Ohne diese zweite Reihe läuft im Fondsgeschäft nichts. Der Weg hinein führt oft über ein Praktikum oder ein Traineeprogramm, und das Handwerk der Veranlagung lernt man von erfahrenen Kolleginnen und Kollegen. Getragen wird das alles von der Erste Group Bank AG, die an der Wiener Börse notiert.
